The cockpit features a state-of-the-art 10-inch Garmin G3X glass cockpit, equipped with precision flight and landing autopilot, collision-avoidance systems, flight management systems (FMS), satellite communications, and dedicated mission-support hardware. Continuous, uninterrupted communication with the operations center ensures full situational awareness at all times.

Mission sensors and data-collection systems are managed remotely from the ground via satellite link, allowing the pilot to focus primarily on flight safety and real-time system supervision. With full two-way support from the ground team, ALTER-EYE delivers exceptional comfort, operational efficiency, and reliability—while keeping operating costs to a minimum.

ALTER-EYE safety subsystems

Safety is integral to every ALTER-EYE mission. Photogrammetric sensors and onboard computers are powered by an independent electrical system, fully isolated from the aircraft’s avionics and primary systems, ensuring uninterrupted operation and enhanced flight safety.

The power architecture is designed to support high-demand payloads, including long-range LiDAR systems, data recorders, photogrammetric cameras, and dedicated displays—without compromise.

For emergency situations, the airframe is equipped with an integrated Ground Rescue System (GRS) capable of deploying a ballistic parachute to safely lower the entire aircraft in the event of a critical failure.

With an exceptional glide ratio exceeding 16:1, ALTER-EYE can glide more than 16 kilometers from an altitude of 1,000 meters. In the unlikely event of an engine failure, a safe landing can be executed on virtually any obstacle-free terrain approximately 300 meters in length.

ALTER-EYE payload

The two dedicated sensor hatches allow for flexible integration of sensor payloads, supporting any combination of vertical sensors compatible with the three-axis Somag 400 gyro-stabilization system, or alternative configurations of horizontal sensors based on two-axis stabilization (roll and pitch). The total onboard payload capacity can reach up to 70 kg.

In addition to terrain-mapping sensors, ALTER-EYE is equipped with multiple monitoring cameras that continuously verify mission execution and the correct operation of onboard equipment. A dedicated observation camera further enables real-time video streaming of the surrounding terrain along the flight path, providing enhanced situational awareness during operations.
